Isn't it amazing?!
How a creepy-crawly little green caterpillar can magically become a majestic butterfly? My kids and I have been lucky enough to witness this firsthand over the last two weeks!! My forever-friend Deb (We met in college in 1986 and now, all these years later, her office is not even a mile from my home - funny how life turns out!) is an amazing gardener. Not only does she sell her plants, trees and herbs, she started making these butterfly kits to sell at local farmers markets. She brought us one about two weeks ago....
There were 4 green caterpillers in our kit. They ate a whole bunch of parsley for days and days!!
Then, one by one, they attached to the arbor and turned into these:
Both my kids (ages 6 1/2 & 16) were fascinated by these little guys! They checked daily for any changes. And this morning, look what we found when we woke up?!
Such a beautiful new creation!! Can't wait to watch the other three emerge as new butterflies.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

I love this! My daughter would love this too. Think we will have to do this too!
ReplyDeleteFound your blog on the internet after watching Extreme Home Makeover. I did sign the pledge about texting and driving. What is almost as dangerous as texting is talking on the telephone when you have to pick the number from a list while trying to drive. I dont drive and talk on the telephone anymore. I almost put a one ton truck into the front of an oncoming car when I wound up on the wrong side of the road. I will not do that any more.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great shot of a Swallowtail Butterfly. There was someone up here in New Hampshire that professionally photographs butterflies and I found out he did the same thing you did. He went around and found Chrysalis of various butterflies and raised them. When the butterfly first came out of the Chrysalis he would "pose" the butterfly.
Thank you for taking time to visit my blog and for commenting. I agree about the phones - mine has a touch screen and I've been guilty of scrolling through contacts to find a number. That is why the show touched me so deeply - so many of us use our phones, not only for texting, but for talking while driving, and it's dangerous.
ReplyDeleteThat beautiful girl's life ended over a text - so senseless. There but for the grace of God go I. I'm so amazed at her family's strength and determinationt to bring some good out of the whole tragedy. I wanted to share their message with my readers.
Thanks for your comments on the butterfly photo - I just got lucky and had my camera ready when one of the butterflies emerged! They were so beautiful, and my kids really enjoyed watching the process!
Hope you will stop by again!
