I was 12 when Diana married her Prince, who turned out to be not-so-nice. Back then, we didn't have DVRs, & I remember waking up at 4 am,then sitting in front of the tv, watching her get out of that carriage with that amazing gown and train & looking like a fairy tale princess. We all wanted to be Princess Di!
I followed her life through magazines and tv, carefully cutting out articles & keeping them in a big blue binder for years and years. When my Katie was born, I got rid of it. I longed to have that binder back once Diana died! Her funeral was one of the saddest things I've ever seen - I was glued to the tv for hours and hours that day, so sad to see how her fairy tale ended. I've still got all the magazines from that week, stored in a bin, & I've got several books on my shelf about Princess Di and her life. She was such a good mother, so compassionate and caring. She was a huge role model to me growing up!
I'm really hoping that William & Kate will be able to overcome all the pressure put on them, being the most famous (almost) newlyweds on the planet. Here's to a long and happy marriage to Wills & Kate ~ how I hope this fairy tale will have a happy ending!!
