ATLANTA – Everything’s better with bacon. And this year for National Bacon Day, HoneyBaked is serving up its best – and you can feel good about eating it. On Saturday, August 31, New HoneyBaked® Sweet Glaze Bacon will be buy one pound, get one free at most HoneyBaked locations. Participating locations in St. Louis and Atlanta will donate one pound of bacon to local Feeding America food banks for every two pounds sold in stores.
New HoneyBaked® Sweet Glaze Bacon, a recent menu addition, is made from carefully selected, lean, tender meat and then slow smoked and finished with the irresistible sweet glaze taste that you can only get from HoneyBaked®.
“With just one day each year set aside for this national celebration, the guest of honor has to be really special,” said COO Maggie DeCan. “As with our hams and turkey breasts, we choose only premium, thick cuts of bacon and work our HoneyBaked magic to bring out the perfect combination of natural flavors. Our Sweet Glaze Bacon is a tasty treat at the breakfast table, a terrific accompaniment to jazz up a sandwich, and brings a bit of pizazz to salads.”
National Bacon Day is an official observance honoring bacon where guests create and consume bacon as the main ingredient. Since it is traditionally celebrated before Labor Day, it’s the perfect time to pick up a couple of pounds to make dishes for potlucks and picnics over the long weekend. And this year they’ll also help provide Feeding America with food that’s often in high demand.
“We generally have a great need for proteins,” said Leah Ray, vice president of corporate partnerships at Feeding America. “ Many people don’t think to donate food with short shelf lives to our local food banks. We are grateful HoneyBaked has helped address this need.”
